We loved it! We travelled with our teenage sons and we booked two rooms with little terraces side by side. This made the car park very accessible and easy to pop in and out for a walk with our dog. A lovely pool with plenty of sun loungers. The hotel is clean and very stylish. We had booked the restaurant and we were so happy we did! The staff were so welcoming and eager to please. The food was delicious and of such a high standard. Asparagus soup, the most unusual green salad, and salmon starters. A fresh veg medley which I am still thinking about. We have dined out for a week in our travels down south and this was the best meal. A lovely town where we walked behind the hotel with our dog. Beautiful scenery everywhere you look. Visit the Chambord Biscuit Factory which is right beside the hotel if you can! Also very close to The Chambord Castle which unfortunately we only got to pass. A few more days would be nice in this area.

This rural hotel has fairly recently had a major refurbishment. As a result the room we had and the public areas are clean, tidy and smart. There is good carparking to the rear of the property. The bar/dining area is formed from a barn, is light and airy, and a very pleasant place to dine and breakfast. On the night we were there the restaurant was busy with guests and locals, the food good, but not exceptional and our breakfast better than the usual 'continental' bread and jam, with cereals, yoghurt, fresh boiled eggs, charcouterie and various breads etc. I would certainly recommend La Clef des Chateaux as a stopover, as it is in easy distance of the Channel ports, or for a longer exploration of the Loire and Cher valleys.

This hotel exceeded my expectations. The communal areas are well designed and furnished/colour coded stylishly and comfortable. (Dining room, bar, lounge are in a restored barn). Everywhere was spotless. The swimming pool, well maintained, is a good size and large towels are provided for customers’ use. There’s table tennis and table football. Travelling with my husband we detoured here, from The Loire Valley cycle path, to stay over so we could visit Chambord chateau. Our bicycles were stored in a secured room. Reading some of the harsh reviews below I am wondering if those reviewers stayed in the same hotel. Good choices at breakfast and all staff were polite, efficient and helpful.

The hotel is recently renovated to a high standard and has a lovely bar, restaurant, pool and grounds. It doesn't look much from the road/street view, and the grounds need to mature, but it is lovely inside. Stylish, quirky and smart, are the best adjectives. The rooms are small but clean, comfortable and perfect for 1 or 2 nights. Think of a cool, quirky, nicer Premier Inn and you're there. The staff were brilliant and dinner was amazing. Fantastic food and great wine. Couldn't complain, especially at the half board rate we paid. All-in-all, if we're back that way we'll stay again. Oh, and if you like beer, try "Le Bete" orangy coloured beer - looks odd but it's delicous!
